Groups & Events
We believe being involved in church is much more than attending Sunday services. We want to be a place where people are challenged to passionately pursue God, experience transformational worship, build authentic community, and influence the world around them. We do this through groups, volunteering, events, and serving in our community. You can find out more about all of our groups and events on Sundays at the Connection Table.
Leisure Groups are a one-time or ongoing meet-up or activity such as going on a hike, seeing a movie or going out to dinner together. These are great places to meet new people with similar interests. Leisure Groups run throughout the year. Some groups meet regularly and others are one time activities. Visit the Connection Table on Sundays for a list of all the current Leisure Groups or you can view our groups here.
Life Groups are small gatherings designed to provide community and help us grow spiritually. We gather in life groups twice a year for 6 to 8 weeks to discuss a series presented at The Well. Life Groups meet in Sept/Oct and again in March/April.
Learning Groups are where we gather together to do a Bible study or read and discuss a specific book or topic. Groups meet at people’s homes and at various locations through out the DC area. Learning Groups run throughout the year meeting for 6-8 weeks.
ANCIENT FAITH CLASSES
One of the ways we passionately pursue God is through growing our love and understanding of Christ and the Orthodox faith. To help congregation members grow in this way, we offer Ancient Faith Classes (AFC) on various topics, presented by a variety of speakers.
AFC 201 Who is Man? – Class held every Fall
AFC 202 Who is God? – Class held every Spring
AFC 203 What is the Church? - Class held every Winter
At STSA, we believe that every one of us is entrusted by God with specific talents and gifts and He has given them to us to further His mission on earth. Regardless of what those gifts or talents might be, we believe that there is a place for them in our church and in the community.
