FAQs
What’s the difference between Liturgy and The Well?
The Liturgy (9:00 a.m.) is a traditional Orthodox service that has been prayed for centuries. It includes prayers, scripture readings, a sermon, and Holy Communion, offering a deeply spiritual and timeless worship experience.
The Well (11:30 a.m.) is our most newcomer-friendly service, with uplifting music, a practical and relevant message, and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s a great place to explore faith, ask questions, and experience community.
You’re welcome to attend either or both!

Is everything in English?
Yes! All of our services at STSA are celebrated entirely in English so that everyone can fully participate and understand. Our goal is to make worship accessible and meaningful for all, whether it’s your first time in an Orthodox church or you’ve been part of one your whole life.
Do I need to dress a certain way?
At STSA, you’ll see people dressed in everything from casual to business attire. Some come in jeans and a t-shirt, others in slacks or a dress. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and ready to worship. There’s no dress code — just come as you are.
Are services available online or livestreamed?
You can watch The Well—our weekly message series—on-demand after Sunday through the STSA Church App, Roku, or our YouTube channel. You can also listen to it through your favorite podcast provider. This way, you can stay connected and watch or listen whenever it works best for you.
This is my first time attending an Orthodox Liturgy, what do I need to know?
We’re so glad you’re joining us! Attending your first Orthodox liturgy may feel new, but it’s also a beautiful experience. Here’s what to expect:
Length: The Divine Liturgy lasts about 2 hours.
Worship Style: Most of the prayers are sung or chanted, with readings and scripture woven in.
Posture: There’s a lot of standing, but also some sitting—just follow along and do what feels comfortable.
Crossing Yourself: Many people cross themselves during the prayers. As a guest, you’re welcome to join in or simply watch.
Icons: You’ll notice icons throughout the sanctuary—at STSA, each icon represents an encounter with Jesus Christ from the Bible.
Incense: You’ll experience the fragrance of incense, which is part of the worship and prayer.
Screens: The words are displayed on screens so it’s easy to follow along.
Tip: Don’t worry about “getting it right.” Simply enter into the prayer, soak in the beauty, and know you’re welcome here.
After Liturgy: We’d love for you to stay for coffee and fellowship. It’s a great chance to meet people, ask questions, and feel at home.
